Glenarm Castle is the ancestral home of the McDonnell family, Earls of Antrim.

The Castle was built by Randal McDonnell, 1st Earl of Antrim, in 1636 and it has remained in the family ever since. The McDonnells have been in Glenarm since the 14th Century and the story of the family is very interlinked with the history of the North Antrim Coast.

You can find out all about their story when you visit our Antrim McDonnell Antrim Heritage Centre. Today Glenarm Castle is the home of Randal and Aurora McDonnell, the 15th Earl & Countess of Antrim and their children.

Although Glenarm Castle is a private home, we are delighted to welcome visitors for guided tours on selected dates throughout the year. We also welcome group bookings for both Castle Tours and visits to the Walled Garden.
